Petra Fridrichová is a researcher in the Educational Research Centre at the Faculty of Education of the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. She worked as a director of the State Pedagogical Institute. Among other tasks, she coordinated and managed the pilot phase of introducing the state curriculum for pre-primary education. As a member of the working group, she participated in developing the descriptors of the Slovak Qualification Framework and is also a member of the working group for developing and evaluating the National Qualification System. During 2011 – 2015, she led the Institute of Science and Research at the UMB Faculty of Education. Her current research interests are reforms of primary education in Slovakia and options for increasing the success of these reforms, innovations in the educational practice through the action research of teachers, transformation of the initial tertiary education and continuous teacher training, and increasing the quality of teaching practice of prospective teachers. She earned her tertiary and doctoral degrees at the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.
